Water’s Edge \ Accommodation in Marina da Gama

A quiet haven in the city

Water's Edge is situated in the idyllic Marina da Gama with the waterway right at the bottom of the garden. The Marina da Gama is built on a series of waterways which form part of the greater Zandvlei Wetlands Nature Reserve . There is an abundance of water birds and marine life. A pair of Fish Eagles is often visible at the south end of Zandvlei - a 15 minute paddle by canoe will get you there.

The two bedroom self-catering ground floor suite is fully equipped and sleeps 5 people comfortably. From the garden you can watch the sun set over the water and the Constantia Mountains, or take out a canoe to enjoy the tranquil waterways. Fishing is also a popular pastime with leervis and carp being regularly caught. The marina is quite safe for swimming and Water’s Edge also has a sparkling pool for use by the guests.

Accommodation

The suite has two separate bedrooms, with beautiful views of the garden and waterway. The main bedroom is a light spacious room with a queen bed with large built in cupboards, a desk and a safe for valuables. The second bedroom has a comfortable single bed and a double bunk – great fun for the children. All linen and extra blankets are provided. Both bedrooms have a door leading outside to the patio and garden, down to the water.

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you will need including crockery, cutlery, fridge, stove and microwave oven. The bathroom has a large shower and bath towels are provided. The patio has an outdoor table, chairs and braai (barbecue) facilities. The small lounging area has a TV (with SABC and E-TV), and dining table that seats six.

There are Indian canoes and paddle skis for use by guests. These are easy to launch directly from the garden and will give great enjoyment to parents and children alike. All doors open directly onto the water and there is no fencing. Parents with toddlers must be safety conscious and constantly vigilant. There is off street parking which is lit at night and is in direct view of the local security guard hut 20 metres away.

Attractions and Activities

There is a shopping complex less than 5 minutes away which has a supermarket, bottle store , laundry and petrol garage.

Water’s Edge is 5 minutes from Muizenberg where you can walk on the beach or along the catwalk to St James . The more adventurous can have a surfing lesson! We are close to most attractions with Simon’s Town, the V&A waterfront and the airport being only 25 minutes away while the Cape Winelands around Stellenbosch are 35 minutes away.
