The Cape Colonial \ Accommodation in Gardens

The Cape Colonial is an established Guest House in a residential area at the foot of Table Mountain and has been in operation since 1996.

It is a Victorian semi-detached town house built in 1895 and has been restored with great care and attention to detail preserving many of its original features. It is situated in a quiet side street in Gardens behind the famous Mount Nelson Hotel and just 10 minutes' walk from the city centre through the beautiful Company Gardens. The Table Mountain Cable Car is 5 minutes' drive away and the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay and the V&A Waterfront are 10 minutes away. Its central but quiet location makes it an ideal starting point for exploring Cape Town and its wonderful surroundings

Accommodation

Our 6 tastefully appointed rooms are furnished in colonial style. They are all en-suite with showers (one room has a bath with shower) and have direct-dialling telephones, TVs and tea or coffee making facilities. Four rooms are double and two are twin rooms including the Zebra Room, our most spacious room, which has its own balcony. Wireless internet is also available throughout the house.

Feel free to enjoy an early evening drink on our patio before going around the corner to Kloof Street with its many bars and restaurants ranging from "easy eating" to "fine dining", all within safe walking distance. Please don’t hesitate to ask us for tips on where to eat and what to do in our beautiful city.

Breakfast

Our rates include a generous and tasty continental or English breakfast including fresh fruit salad made daily.

Services

We arrange airport transfers on request as well as tours to the major local attractions such as Cape Point and the Cape Winelands. As wine lovers, we are always on the look out for good well priced wines and have an almost intimate knowledge of the best wine farms in the Western Cape and are always willing to share our tips.

Your hosts

Your hosts are Sabine Riedrich and Rod Shaw. Sabine is a South African born German citizen who commutes between Germany and South Africa. Rod is a British citizen who came to South Africa in 2000 and has not regretted the move for one moment. Having spent many years in Germany, he also speaks fluent German. Both are committed to making your stay in Cape Town as pleasant as possible. They are ably supported by Beauty whose sunny temperament adds to the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of the house.

Notes

Smoking is not permitted in the house itself but we are happy to provide you with an ashtray on the stoep (patio).
