With beautiful views of the Constantia mountain and situated within the Constantia Wine-Route of Cape Town, your stay at South Lodge Cottage will be an enjoyable one. Whether it is sitting out on the patio by the swimming pool or relaxing in the tastefully decorated lounge, you will enjoy peace and quiet in this lovely self-contained cottage.

Accommodation

South Lodge Cottage is a well appointed self-catering cottage, overlooking a sparkling pool set in a large garden, with beautiful views of the mountains. The serviced cottage is tastefully decorated, with an open plan kitchen and sitting room, a spacious double bedroom and bathroom with under-floor heating. It is possible to accommodate a third person in the lounge. Satellite television offers a wide selection of channels.

Facilities

There is wireless broadband internet access, a sound system, a DVD player and iPod shuttle and a private telephone . South Lodge Cottage has its own private entrance and secure off-street parking. It has a well equipped kitchen and you can dine alfresco under a large umbrella. Barbacue facilities are also available.

Location & Attractions

We are close to several fine golf courses, Steenberg, Royal Cape, Clovelly and Westlake, or you can enjoy wine-tasting at the historic Groot Constantia estate or Constantia Uitsig, both nearby. Constantia Uitsig wine estate houses two award-winning restaurants, La Colombe and Constantia Uitsig, and there are many more excellent restaurants in the area.

A 15 minute drive will take you to False Bay on the Indian ocean, with many beautiful beaches and the quaint fishing village of Kalk Bay (restaurants, arts & crafts, antiques and collectibles). A short drive in the other direction, over Constantia Nek, brings you to Hout Bay, another colourful fishing harbour, which then leads on to the Atlantic seaboard. There you will have the choice of beaches such as Clifton and Camps Bay, which also offer many fine dining opportunities.

Perhaps stop-off at Constantia Nek, Cecelia, Silvermine or Tokai Forest for gentle mountain walks or hiking. For the more energetic, you can hike up Table Mountain or take a trip to the top, via the cable car, for spectacular views of Cape Town.

Cape Town International Airport is half an hour away, the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront only a 20 minute drive, and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens less than 10 minutes drive. Cape Point Nature Reserve is half an hour away, where you can stand at the tip of the peninsula and see where the two oceans meet.

We offer our guests who stay for 2 weeks or more, the opportunity to relax at our Hermanus beach cottage for a few days, at no extra cost. Between July and November, the Southern Right whales come into Walker Bay to calf, and Hermanus offers the finest land based whale-watching in the world.
