Serendipity Guest House, a luxurious waterfront Guest House, cradled by the protected Outeniqua Mountain and the evergreen Africa Mountain Forests, is situated on the banks of the Touw River and borders on to the Wilderness National Park in the heart of the Garden Route. Serendipity’s aim: to ensure our visitors experience Garden Route hospitality at its very best, with attention to the smallest detail and the highest of standards.

Canoeing the rivers and waterways, abseiling the cliffs, walking the miles of empty white beaches and watching dolphins, whales and rare birds, fishing the river or the sea or mountain biking, teeing off at a world famous golf course, are all within minutes from your home-from-home. World class golf courses on our doorstep are Fancourt, George Golf Club, Pinnacle Point Golf Estate and Oubaai. Other highly rated golf courses, such as Pezula and Simola are within 30 minutes away.

ACCOMMODATION

Serendipity Guest House is a house of luxury, quality and décor with extra touches to indulge and enjoy. Serendipity offers en-suite bedrooms with superior mattresses, white percale linen and bath robes.

Each suite is individually interior-designed and equipped with: ceiling fans, heaters, under floor heating, sherry tray, tea and coffee tray, satellite television, electronic safe, hairdryer and Wi-Fi internet connection. On your balcony, whilst you are having tea or coffee or a sip of wine, you overlook the Touw River and the Wilderness National Park experience a most spectacular sunset.

FACILITIES

Guests are pampered with amenities, such as: a guests’ library and lounge with fire place, waterfront leisure area, complimentary beach chairs, towels and umbrellas and canoes. Our gardens have been designed and developed by a team of professional landscape architects and are meticulously maintained to enjoy waterfront living.

Security is provided by electronic security gates and lock-up garaging in the basement for our guests.

BREAKFAST

Breakfast - Our breakfasts are extensive and include fresh fruit and yogurt; variety of cereals; variety of breads and croissants with cheeses and jams, eggs, bacon, tomato, mushrooms, fresh juice, freshly brewed coffee and a selection of teas, served in our breakfast room overlooking the water or outside on the terrace.

SERENDIPITY RESTAURANT

Gourmet Dinner - Dinner at Serendipity Restaurant is a sociable five-course gourmet candle lit event. Cuisine is of the standard you’d expect from an award-wining and internationally acclaimed establishment - among the accolades: Serendipity was chosen by “Wine Magazine” in association with Diners Club International as a Top 100 Restaurant in South Africa for five consecutive years.

French champagne makers Moët & Chandon invited Rudolf and Lizelle Stolze (restaurateur and executive chef at Serendipity) as special guests to their Château de Saran at Epernay, France, the historic cradle of champagne. Serendipity Restaurant was appointed as member of the exclusive Moët & Chandon/BOE Circle of prestige restaurants in South Africa. Serendipity has been voted one of Top 10 Restaurants in the Garden Route. Most recently Lizelle has been chosen by GastroNomica as Top Chef for the Garden Route and Klein Karoo.

ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES

The Wilderness National Park, consisting of the Southern Cape Wetlands and Lakes and fringing mountain-forests (a UNESCO proclaimed water bird sanctuary) is a globally important bird area.

Part of the scenic beauty of the Garden Route, is the Cape Folded Mountains and the mountain passes. The Outeniqua Mountain Pass between George and Oudtshoorn is considered to be one of the world's most beautiful and historic passes. Mostly tarred, but some with rustic gravel roads, like the Swartberg Pass, considered to be one of the most spectacular and breathtaking passes in Africa. The Meiringspoort is one of the more spectacular routes between the Central and Klein Karoo, snaking along the river beneath towering red rock cliffs and rolling rock formations.
