Rivers Edge \ Accommodation in Stanford

River’s Edge is a delightful riverside double storey country home with stylish furnishings and rolling lawns down to the river bank. The house sleeps eight people and has four bedrooms, three bathrooms (two en suite), outside hot water shower, open-plan kitchen dining area, scullery, entrance hall, sitting room, balcony, covered verandah, Weber braai, kitchen garden.

Self Catering Accommodation

The house has four bedrooms - sleeping eight people. We can arrange for mattresses for children should you possibly need more beds - this is by special arrangement only.

Downstairs is designed for easy open plan living. The main guest bedroom has an en-suite bathroom (wrought iron four poster bed) and a further two guest suites (the second bedroom has a four poster bed and there are bunk beds in the third bedroom for the kids) with inter leading bathroom. There is a large open plan country kitchen, scullery and dining area. The lounge has a log burning fireplace and French doors onto the covered patio.

Upstairs has a delightful oversized main master suite with ensuite bathroom and a wonderful, huge Victorian bathroom with a walk-in shower and roll top Victorian bath. The master bedroom takes you onto your own private wooden deck to enjoy the 180 degree views of mountains and river.

Facilities

The kitchen is fully equipped with gas hob and oven, sharp knives, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine. All linen and towels are provided by us and are changed weekly.

The well kept English country garden has a kitchen garden to the side and the lawns roll down to the rivers edge. There are wonderful walks along the river. The kitchen garden supplies abundant vegetables, herbs, tomatoes and flowers for home consumption – please use what you need.

DSTV is available - please bring your own decoder and sim card to activate DSTV. You will need to call DSTV to enable this on arrival. There is a Bose iPod docking station with remote to play your music - so please don’t forget your iPods.

Service

The house is serviced once a week. Should you require our housekeeper to come more often please let us know. This weekly servicing includes making of beds, a linen change, cleaning of the bathrooms, general cleaning and sweeping or mopping the floors if required and is included in the rates so will not result in additional charges.

Attractions and Activities

You are right on the Klein River for kayaking, boating or walks, mountain views, amazing bird trails and watching in the reserve, 15km's from whale watching in whale season, located mid-point between Hermanus and Gansbaai. Close to the Walker Bay 4x4 trail and protected beaches.

There is a fantastic market every Saturday morning in Stanford - we encourage you to get there just before 10am - things sell out quickly! I can highly recommend the lemon curd cup cakes and pies!

There are bikes and a rubber dingy in the garage. Please speak to Camille should you wish to use these.

Please Note

We request that guests do not smoke inside the property. Please ensure that the alarm is activated each time you leave the property. We have a resident porcupine in the garden who tends to rummage through the bin bags if they are not placed in the outside bins provided. It can get rather messy but he is a sight to behold and the kids love looking out for him.
