Situated on the outskirts of Franschhoek, nestled against the hillside and overlooking the vineyards and magnificent mountains is the Rickety Bridge Manor House. This historic Cape Dutch manor house has given visitors a welcome rest stop for nearly two centuries. Three luxuriously appointed rooms guarantee a relaxing, peaceful mood.

Every detail of the Rickety Bridge Manor House has been carefully considered; classic Cape Dutch furniture, fire-warmed lounge and country kitchen. Dramatic yellow-wood beamed ceilings and pine floors polished in tales of the past. During renovations in 1995, modern facilities were introduced while priceless antique pieces representing the best of indigenous Cape furniture throughout the ages were carefully preserved. Recent refurbishments include modern day artwork by local artists which adorn the walls of this beloved home comfortably blending contemporary with classic and resulting in a tranquil, inviting atmosphere.

Accommodation

Three double rooms with en suite bathrooms are luxuriously and tastefully decorated with all the luxuries one would expect of a four star establishment complemented with the comforting pleasures of home - Cable / Satellite TV, minbars, aircons, underfloor heating and heated towel rails. Bathrobes, premium bedding, extra linen and towels, hairdryer, in room safe, separate tub and shower make this smoke free property comfortable for all our guests. While the Manor House itself is smoke free, guests are welcome to use of the verandah overlooking the panoramic views of the Wemmershoek Mountains.

Breakfast is served in our quaint breakfast room or, if you prefer, around the swimming pool set in breathtaking mountain backdrop. Taste our award winning, internationally acclaimed wines on leather fireside couches. Indulge in a gourmet lunch prepared by our team of chefs at the Restaurant in the Vines.

Conferences

Our venue is fully air-conditioned, has a bar on site, a verandah adjacent to the vineyards where you can have your meal or smoke breaks and a loft lounge and elevated area that can be cordoned off for break-away rooms. There is ample parking on the grounds. Our facility includes all seating (with or without chair covers), linen, crockery, cutlery, glassware, mints, water, cordials and bar and service staff. Seating can be arranged in any format to suit the needs of your conference. (we can accommodation 40 - 90 delegates in various seating configurations).

Weddings

Much of the success of your most beautiful day depends on the atmosphere and the surroundings in which the ceremony and reception are held. You will find the very special ambience of Rickety Bridge the ideal environment for your wedding. Up to 85 wedding guests can dine in comfort and style in our banqueting hall. The hall is adjacent to the dance floor, a cosy bar area and a private VIP loft lounge. The mood is one of understated elegance, unobtrusive service and jovial company in a superb setting.

An outdoor wedding becomes a grand alfresco affair in our garden. The views across the vineyards against a backdrop of mountain will lend an air of splendour to the occasion. To host your reception or ceremony in these suburb surroundings, where we can cater for a much larger number of guests, you would also have the option to utilize a marquee that we will gladly arrange for you.
