Langebaan Guesthouse Langebaan
I have stood quietly with the Bontebok on the white dunes of the West Coast National Park in March, and watched as the Curlew sandpiper got ready for a 15000 km journey to the north. I have stood in fields of purple tinted cat shrubs (ballota) and Lettuce bush (slaaibos) after the first winter rains in July. In August / September I have been mesmerized by the bright colours of the wild flowers as they are seen against the granite hills in Spring.
Many times I have left my shoes in the car and felt the sand between my toes as I walked along the miles of pristine coastline. I have immersed my body quietly in the warm waters of the lagoon so as not to disturb the flamingos filter feeding in the shallows.
I have windsurfed and sailed at Kraal Bay and Riet Bay until exhaustion got the better of me.
I have stuffed myself on crayfish, used a mussel shell as a spoon, and eaten from open fires at the Strandloper. I have enjoyed the best muffins at Geelbek, after a long cycle through the Park, as I learnt about the historical farmhouse and saw photographs of the Whaling Station at Donkergat.
I have listened to the stories of the local fishermen in the local pubs and cafes in Langebaan. Don’t you want that too? Come stay at the Langebaan Guesthouse.
