Kleine Zalze Lodge \ Accommodation in Stellenbosch

Kleine Zalze Lodge Stellenbosch

The stylishly decorated 47 rooms and suites of the lodge are set alongside the first fairway of the championship ‘De Zalze Golf Course’. The clubhouse is just on the other side of the Blaauwklippen and within walking distance.

Accommodation

The rooms enjoy breathtaking views of the Stellenbosch Mountains and are surrounded by 120 hectares of vineyards. Guests can enjoy a full or continental breakfast overlooking the first green while being shaded by old oaks. Accommodation is available in a variety of units: two bed roomed family suites, one bed roomed suites, superior rooms and standard rooms.

Although the lodge offers all the comforts associated with a four star facility, the rooms are available with kitchens or kitchenettes, complete with microwave, and cutlery and crockery for those who prefer to self-cater.

There’s a rim-flow swimming pool, a range of vineyard trails for hiking or running, mountain bike trails, as well as wine tastings and cellar tours. In addition to 24-hour security, all accommodation, both suites and individual rooms, are air-conditioned, fitted with under floor heating, satellite television, internet access, room safes and even European wall plugs.
Attentive, thoughtful but unobtrusive service is the Lodges’ hallmark.

Dining

Terroir Restaurant opened in October 2004, and over the years has become one of the most sought-after gourmet destinations in the Cape winelands, placing Stellenbosch prominently on the culinary map. The restaurant is located on Kleine Zalze, a family owned wine farm that has risen to prominence both in South Africa and internationally thanks in particular to its award-winning chenin blanc and shiraz. The setting, under historic oak trees with views over the De Zalze golf course and surrounding gardens and vineyards, is both refined and relaxed. It’s the perfect environment in which to enjoy a fine meal matched to excellent wines

Terroir’s ongoing success has brought with it a string of prestigious awards, including the Eat Out Johnny Walker ‘Restaurant of the Year 2006’, Eat Out ‘Service Excellence Award 2006’, Eat Out ‘Top 10 Restaurant’ 2005 and 2006, Dine (Wine magazine) ‘Top 10 Restaurant’ in 2005, 2006 and 2007, and Best of Wine Capitals of the World South African Wine Tourism Restaurant of the Year 2006.

Golfing

Golfers can indulge virtually on the spot at the De Zalze Golf Course - one of the Cape’s finest venues - and continue at a range of other top-ranking courses in the Winelands and beyond.

Stellenbosch

As the Lodge is just 3 km from the beautifully preserved, historic university town of Stellenbosch, it is ideally located for exploring what is one of South Africa’s oldest communities. Many of the original buildings have been faithfully restored, giving visitors a glimpse of life in the town 200 and even 300 years ago.

There are many outstanding examples to see of Cape Dutch domestic architecture, mainly along Dorp Street, as well as several leading art galleries, museums, beautiful boutiques, antique shops, jewelers, farm stalls and an exciting range of restaurants, bistros and brasseries.

Saturday morning organic and flea markets provide a wonderful opportunity for browsing and engaging with the area’s creative talent.

Wine Routes

Kleine Zalze also lies on the Stellenbosch Wine Route, South Africa’s most prominent wine route and source of most of the country’s award-winning wines, making it the perfect base from which to learn firsthand about the country’s famous names in wines.
