Impangele Guest House and Cottage \ Accommodation in Swellendam

Impangele Guesthouse and Self Catering Cottage lies near the base of the Langeberg mountain range, ideally placed for those who love hiking, rambling and exploration. It is also possible to walk to shops and restaurants, so guests can have the best of everything. It is very close to the golf course (two minutes walk), to the Faerie Sanctuary (five minutes walk) and to two amazing berry farms, where you can taste liqueurs, jams and other products (fifteen minutes walk)

The main house is well equipped to cater for every traveller's needs, and has been adapted to provide maximum ease and comfort for any disabled visitors. It offers superb accommodation, furnished in tasteful contemporary African style, and boasts a peaceful indigenous garden, with mountain views.

Accommodation

The bedrooms are spacious and full of character. They all have TVs, well equipped hospitality trays, complimentary liqueurs from the local Berry Estate, bathrobes and slippers and all have en-suite facilities, with high quality complimentary toiletries.

The Zebra Room
The Zebra room is a vision in black and white – it has been made totally accessible for wheelchair users, so has a wet-room facility.

The Leopard Room
The Leopard Room has an African Safari style shower room and is so huge, that two extra single beds can be made available for families.

the Giraffe Room
The Giraffe Room has twin beds, (double on request) with an en-suite bath / shower. It has a DVD player as well as a TV, and the price is kept at an affordable rate to suit budget and business travellers.

Self Catering Cottage
The Garden Cottage is fully equipped for self-catering and is ideal for families and groups. It has one double bedroom; a twin bedded room, and two sleeper couches in the living area a kitchen, and bathroom with bath and overhead shower. It has its own patio opening onto the garden and the braai area, beautiful views, and lots of little extras to make your stay a pleasant one. All bed-linen, towels and toiletries are supplied.

The cottage appeals to adults and children alike, there is a TV, Playstation, CD player, books and games to keep you amused if the weather is poor. Breakfast can be ordered in the main house at an additional charge.

Breakfast

Breakfast is included in the more than reasonable price – and it is an amazing experience, with lots of variety – everything is locally sourced and freshly prepared. Local fruit, freshly squeezed oranges, newly ground coffee, choice of teas, along with pastries, muffins and home baked bread. For no extra cost, you can indulge in a stunning English breakfast – complete with fried bread and baked beans!

Impangele’s garden is a haven for bird watchers. It is full of flowering indigenous plants, designed to attract butterflies and birds. While guests enjoy their breakfast on the deck in the sunshine, they will be joined by sun-birds, sugar-birds, weavers, Cape white eyes, and many other species – the birds have become so tame that it is possible to stroke some of them!

Activities and Attractions

Surrounded by three national parks - Bontebok National Park, Marloth Mountain reserve, and De Hoop Nature Reserve, Swellendam is a place to spend much more than one night. In the picturesque historical town of Swellendam itself there is the Drostdy Museum and Old Gaol complex, and some excellent restaurants. Nearby there is quad biking, hot springs, horse riding, a fuffi slide, beautiful dams and scenic walks, the Tradouw Pass, and many superb wine farms. Impangele now has a farm style plunge pool available for you to cool down after your busy day(s).

There is plenty to see and do, and one of the best things about Swellendam, is there is virtually no crime and everybody is very relaxed, friendly and peaceful! If you let them know in advance, Beauty, Impangele’s housekeeper, will cook you a traditional Xhosa meal.
