Ekogaia Farm Cottages \ Accommodation in Noordhoek

Ekogaia Farm Cottages provide affordable, tranquil getaways on a farm on a private estate, amidst beautiful settings.

Even though we are situated halfway between the city centre and Cape Point, Ekogaia Farm Cottages provide a unique sense of isolation and privacy in this carefully crafted haven. On the one side, the cottages face a forested garden area with mountain views; the other has sweeping views across Chapmans Bay toward Kommetjie and Antarctica.

Self Catering Accommodation

There is a choice of two cottages, each of which is tailored to our guests’ requirements. The cottages are not in any way interconnected and provide privacy.

Spiral Cottage.
The larger cottage, Spiral is a large double volume space with the eating, cooking and living area downstairs, with smooth indoor / outdoor flows. The separate main bedroom is also downstairs, along with the en-suite (shared) bathroom. It also has access to the patio. The main bedroom has a special star window, which can be closed with a blind, above the huge bed, so you can watch the night sky.

Upstairs, Spiral provides an open plan loft space which has a lounge and sleeping area with a queen and two single beds. There are roof windows with views of the Noordhoek amphitheatre and Noordhoek Peak itself. Chapmans Peak is also visible from the loft.

The bathroom in Spiral has separate bath (with telephone shower) and shower, basin and toilet.

Spiral is suited to larger families or groups of friends and is also ideal for longer term lets for families and can sleep up to six people.

Helix Cottage
Helix Cottage is more compact and suited to a couple or small family unit. It is also double volume with the kitchen, dining area, lounge and bathroom downstairs and the sleeping area in the loft, below roof windows.

There is a queen double bed and a single bed in the loft, as well as a single / double sleeper couch in the lounge, should this be required. Helix can accommodate up to five people. The bathroom provides a shower above the bath as well as toilet and basin.

Both cottages have stoves (Spiral has a full sized stove, Helix a compact two plate/ oven combination), microwaves, large fridge /freezers, as well as all cutlery, crockery and cooking requirements. They also have clock radio combinations, hair dryers, and TV / DVD combinations. We do not have satellite but this can be arranged for longer term stays if required. We can also supply dongles for fast internet connection but do not have Wi-Fi or ADSL cable connection due to local technical constraints.

Please Note

While we do accept children of all ages we suggest parents consider carefully before arriving that this accommodation is not fully child friendly, particularly for toddlers. The glass and cutlery cupboards are open plan, there are unsecured stairs and steps to the outside.

Environmentally Friendly

Our cottages were designed from an environmentally sensitive perspective. We used recycled materials wherever possible and have also used the available light, winds and siting of the house to the maximum benefit. The houses each have separate solar water heating as well as electrical backup in case of cooler weather. We also recycle all waste and provide bins and receptacles to make this easy for our guests. Our lighting is all energy saving CFL and LED type lighting. We additionally have many types of resident wildlife from porcupine, lynx to over 50 species of birds so far identified around the property.

location

We are situated a short walk from the Noordhoek Farm Village which boasts four eateries (including the highly rated Foodbarn Restaurant), a pub and various shops. It is safe to wander down there anytime at your leisure. We also provide braais (barbecue) and firewood sourced from invasive alien trees if you want to eat in.

Our aim is to provide a comfortable home-from-home experience, where our guests feel that they have had a real holiday by the time they leave. This is evident in the many small details where we go the extra mile, such as the dried herbs (usually from our organic gardens) and spices and a selection of organic teas and filter coffee which we provide.

While the rates provided are for short term vacation rentals, we do also offer rates for longer term stays of up to three months by arrangement.

Judging from the comments we have received over more than five years of operation we have proudly succeeded in providing an affordable, restful haven to enjoy your holiday. Ekogaia Farm Cottages provides all this while situated just around the corner from one of the worlds greatest, and certainly most beautiful cities.
