Die Fonteine Guesthouse \ Accommodation in Oudtshoorn

Situated in the heart of the Cango Valley near Oudtshoorn, this guest house features elegantly decorated rooms with a private patio overlooking the Schoemanshoek Valley and the Swartberg Mountain Range.

With complimentary tea/coffee facilities and sherry, all light rooms at Die Fonteine come with rustic furniture and a sitting area. Each of the private bathrooms has an old-world bathtub or a walk-in shower.

A freshly prepared breakfast is served daily on the covered veranda, which overlooks the surrounding gardens. For dinner, guests can find two restaurants within 5km from Die Fonteine Guest House.

The owner can help organise trips to the Karusa Winery (200 metres away), where guests can enjoy wine tasting with a cheese platter. It is also possible to order a picnic basket for a trip to the Rust and Vrede Waterfall (15km).

The famous Swartberg Pass is only 15 km from the guest house. The Cango Caves and Cango Wildlife Ranch are less than a 10-minute drive away.

The rooms are non smoking and we provide linen, towels, basic toiletries, tea and coffee facilities, homemade rusks and sherry. Each room has its own private entrance, ensuring the privacy you deserve.

Double bed with en-suite bathroom (bath and separate shower). Private patio overlooking the Swartberg Mountain Range and Schoemanshoek Valley.

Room 4: Bougainvillea
Twin beds (king size) with en-suite bathroom (bath, separate shower and double basins). Private patio overlooking Schoemanshoek Valley and the beautiful garden.

We offer a scrumptious farm style breakfast, as well as home cooked dinners - by arrangement.

Attractions and Activities

We are ideally located for travellers exploring the Schoemanshoek Valley, Oudtshoorn and the surrounding area. We are within walking distance from the Cango Ostrich Show Farm, Karusa Winery and Orchard Fine Foods Deli and Coffee Shop. The Cango Caves, Wilgewandel Holiday Farm, Cango Wildlife Ranch and Rus and Vrede Waterfall are within a radius of 15 km from Die Fonteine.

A visit to Prince Albert via the Swartberg Mountain Range can also lead you to “Die Hel” and is a must see for nature lovers. Do the circular route via the Swartberg Mountain Pass to Prince Albert, Prince Albert through Meiringspoort to De Rust and then back to Oudtshoorn. Meiringspoort is also a well known attraction and has a beautiful picnic spot near the Meiringspoort waterfall.

De Rust is well known for its Donkey Cart project, a community project lead by the people of De Rust. Various scenic gravel roads in the area offer exciting day trips. The Oudtshoorn area is known for its beautiful landscapes and spectacular Klein Karoo sunsets.
