Accommodation
In this elegant oasis we are offering four luxurious and spacious, en-suite rooms, which are equipped with 100% cotton bed linen, anti-allergenic duvets and pillows, bar fridge, complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk, DSTV, air-conditioning for relief in the summer months, insect repellents, hairdryer, complimentary soap, shampoo, shower gel, hand cream, tissues and heated blankets in a fascinating architectural 1902 built home by Sir Baker, each with its own entrance.
Rooms lead to a refreshing country atmosphere in the enchanted garden full of bird life with the most amazing mountain views under the breathtaking stars like nowhere else in the world!
Breakfast
On request a full English or Continental breakfast can be served which includes yogurt, cereals, fresh milk, tea and coffee. Eggs, bacon, mince, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast and cheese are also served. For dinner we have “braai” packs on request available for those who want to braai and enjoy the famous organic super A-grade Karoo lamb chops and beef sausage.
Activities and Attractions
Our Guesthouse is nearby a golf course for those of you bringing your golf clubs along, and the Karoo National Park - with lovely scenic routes, more than 6000 fauna and flora species and there is also two endangered species, the Riverine Rabbit and the Black Rhinoceros which have been successfully resettled. The park is home to five tortoise species, the most in any conservation area in the world.
The park also has challenging 4x4 routes into the mountains, walking and fossil trails. We are near the N1, but yet so far from any noise, only the sounds from nature and approximately 10km away from the airport and within the vicinity of the Chris Barnard Museum - Dr Chris Barnard (who performed the first heart transplant) was born here. Our museum is very popular due to this. You can go for a visit and see lots of interesting things there, including the Sending Kerk and Stadtshuis. The Stadtshuis was first to be built in the Karoo. Also 400 year old engravings from the herb “guru” king in Nelspoort, Malteno Pass and of the indescribable Meiringspoort!
We provide secure shaded and non-shaded off-street parking behind locked gates, Warm hospitality and excellent service. We speak English, Afrikaans and Zulu. Smoking is permitted in the garden area and on the veranda. We are pet and child friendly. Cape Karoo Guesthouse is a member of the Beaufort West Tourism Bureau.
