Cape Cottage \ Accommodation in Scarborough

Cape Cottage Scarborough

Cape Cottage echoes to the soothing sounds of crashing waves on the white sand and rock-pooled beach 200 metres away. This cosy getaway is on Scarborough’s front row with breathtaking views across milkwood-covered dunes of sunsets and passing whales.

The secluded garden with fragrant indigenous plants and mountain vista is the perfect place to relax and contemplate another day balanced between the crystal waters of the Atlantic and the rich biodiversity of the Cape Point Reserve.

Accommodation

Two airy ensuite double bedrooms, one with sea view, together sleep four people. A comfortable sitting room (with satellite TV, writing desk and selection of books) flows onto deck (with comfy chairs, table) overlooking the Atlantic.

Fully-equipped kitchen (microwave / gas stove) adjoins a cosy dining area with fireplace. The garden pergola is ideal for breakfasts and afternoon tea while there is a separate braai (barbeque) area. There is secure off-street parking for one or two cars.

Attractions

Our Big Five: Cape Point (16km); Table Mountain Cable Car (27km); Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden (26km); Penguins at Boulder’s Beach (11km); Chapman’s Peak Drive (12km) Restaurants and Bars Camel Rock (seafood and other fare in Scarborough’s own); Cape Farm House (2km out of Scarborough on road to Cape Point, a great spot for breakfast and Sunday lunch); Olympia Café (a Kalk Bay institution with amazing seafood and delicious bread from adjoining bakery - get there early to avoid the queues); Harbour House (great seafood with fantastic views across False Bay); The Polana (a stylish bar, underneath Harbour House, with one of the best views in the world).

Cape Point Reserve's quieter paths to Olifantsbaai and Gifkommetjie offer rewarding excursions after the frenetic pace of the Cape of Good Hope - spot sugarbirds and sunbirds, identify proteas and keep alert for tortoises. Cape Point Ostrich Farm, on the road back from Cape Point to Scarborough, has guided tours and a tea garden.Imhoff Farm, 10 minutes away on Kommetjie Road, offers a family experience with camel- and horse-riding on Noordhoek Beach and Higgeldy Piggeldy Farmyard for the young ones.
