Bella de Karoo \ Accommodation in Calitzdorp

Bella de Karoo Guesthouse is idyllically nestled on an ostrich farm in the heart of the little Karoo. It is conveniently situated next to the multi-touristic Route 62.

Accommodation

Aptly named, ‘beautiful girl of the Little Karoo’, this old converted barn circa late 1800’s, is the epiphany of old rustic farm-style married to a modern element. Accommodation comprises of three big, cozy bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, sleeping one to three people per unit. It also has a 4th family unit which can sleep five.

Dining

Scrumptious farm-made breakfasts and lunches are served at our Smitswinkel farm stall up the road. Dinner can be ordered and delivered on your front porch or a lapa is available for long lingering braais under the open starry skies.

At the farm stall the children can be entertained with donkey rides, potbelly pigs and lots of feathery friends.

Activities and Attractions

You can come and navigate the many remote dirt roads with your mountain bike, hike the veld and experience the richness of the little Karoo floral kingdom or go on a cellar-tour in the port capital of South Africa, Calitzdorp. Horse riding can also be made possible.

We are only 80km to the sea; a nice different outing for the day. Come experience the awe of the world-famous Red Mountains, the Swartberg Pass and Die Hel or just sit on the stoep, reading a book, drinking a cup of coffee or even a glass of wine chosen from our little boutique wine-store at the farm stall.

Here at the farm stall you can meet the ladies knitting; making lovely handmade handbags, bath rugs, placemats and face cloths…providing much needed funds for their families.
