Badger's Lodge \ Accommodation in Knysna

Badger's Lodge is a guesthouse in Knysna in the heart of South Africa’s famous Garden Route. Knysna, a charming village, lies on the banks of the Knysna Lagoon between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean and surrounded by one of the largest remaining Southern African rain forests. The Lagoon is separated from the sea by two sandstone cliffs, the Knysna Heads.

Accommodation

Badger's Lodge is situated close to the Knysna Lagoon and about 3 km out of Knysna's enchanting town centre and the picturesque waterfront. We offer comfortable accommodation in African style Rondavels (thatched huts), chalets and cottages set in a large tranquil garden.

A veranda and a sundeck with views over the lush valley and forest are the ideal places to spot abundant bird life, whilst the sparkling pool invites you to relax and soak up the warm African sun. All rooms are en-suite and are decorated in an African theme. Secure off street parking is available to our guests.

There is also a garden timber cottage, which offers 2 self catering, semi-detached units. Each unit accommodates up to four people and consists of two bedrooms, one bathroom with shower to share for the bedrooms, kitchen, lounge and veranda with braai facilities. We provide linen and towels as well as a daily service.

A chalet affords privacy and tranquility for two people - perfect for honeymooners. It has one bedroom, bathroom with shower and full bath, kitchen, lounge and veranda with braai and is also fully equipped for self-catering.

Breakfast

Enjoy hearty English/ continental breakfasts served in the thatched dining room by the open fireplace or on the veranda. A private bar with TV (SABC only) is available for the guests.

Attractions and Activities

Knysna offers many outdoor activities and adventure. Laze at one of the unspoilt sandy beaches or head for some adventurous experiences in the forest such as hiking, biking, horse riding and quad biking. Try some water sports such as canoeing, tubing, waterskiing, diving, fishing or whale watching.

Spend a day on one of our incredible golf courses with view over the lagoon and the mountains whilst you face the challenge.

In Knysna's vicinity you will find many more attractions and breathtaking landscapes. The Tsitsikamma National park is only a one hour drive from Knysna. Enjoy a day-trip to Oudtshoorn the big ostrich country between the magnificent Outeniqua and Swartberg Mountains.

The Addo Elephant National Park is a malaria free game reserve, which is home to more than 300 elephants. The park is situated in the Sunday River Valley that is also an important citrus producing area.

Your Hosts

Your hosts at Badger's Lodge are Katrin & Joachim Heinen, a young German couple, who moved to Knysna in 2001. After many visits and lots of travelling through Southern Africa, we decided to move to South Africa. Our daughters Marta and Emma were born in Knysna.
