Auslese \ Accommodation in Gardens

Auslese offers a convenient and stylish venue in the historic Gardens area for between 10 and 40 delegates for lunch or dinner and up to 100 guests for a cocktail - type event. Auslese caters for all manner of events and specialises in wine and food pairing.

Auslese, sister to Aubergine Restaurant, is a private function venue specialising in wine and food pairing. It is conveniently situated in an historic building in Gardens, Cape Town. The décor is simple and classic, and Harald Bresselschmidt (owner and chef) has made every attempt to retain the character and heritage of the building. The beautiful antique tiled fireplaces, visible roof beams, classic tongue and groove ceilings, wooden floors and shutters are a testament to this. Lovely dark wood "reimpie" chairs add to the charm. Natural materials have been used as far as possible throughout the building adding to a feeling of considered elegance.

Incorporating elegant reception rooms and an expertly designed maturation cellar, Auslese caters for a range of possibilities - from smaller intimate wine pairing lunches or dinners to larger more informal events of up to 100 guests. The common theme is top class food and wine in a fine dining environment. All functions are pre-booked and tailored to your specific needs.

The following spaces are available for functions:
• Three x inter-leading rooms seating between 10 - 40 guests (the rooms can be combined or closed off individually)
• Courtyard (weather permitting)
• Cellar - pre-dinner tasting for a maximum of 12 pax
• Reception area
• Verandah (enclosed)

During the day, secure parking is available close by at the Gardens Shopping Centre. There is ample off-street parking during the evening and a dedicated car guard can be provided.

• 2.1 x 2.1 screen and flat screen television are available to hire

Cuisine & Menus

Harald Bresselschmidt’s cuisine has a classical, European foundation upon which he and his team make interesting innovations. A prominent feature is the use of seasonal local produce and small micro producers. Dishes range from vegetarian to fish, seafood, matured meats and game. As a rule the style of cooking is light and an Asian influence is evident in some fish and vegetarian dishes.

Auslese’s menus usually take the form of smaller tapas-size dishes and although an emphasis is placed on food and wine pairing, it is not obligatory. Speak to us about the needs of your group.
