The Art Gallery Guest House - Thandekayo is ideally located on the slopes of the 12th Apostle overlooking the picturesque village of Hout Bay. Positioned on the Atlantic Seaboard of the Western Cape, Thandekayo means “warm welcome” in Zulu. This gem of a guest house offers spacious, modern luxury accommodation and boasts five designer African themed rooms all en suite.

Besides its ideal location, situated a mere 20 minutes from Cape Town central, The Art Gallery Guesthouse has much to offer. From the balcony one enjoys breathtaking panoramic views, stretching from the back of Table Mountain to Chapman’s Peak and the bay itself. Owned by Anita and Martin Osner, Martin is one of South Africa’s renowned fine art photographic artists and the guest house displays exhibitions of his works as well as of other contemporary South African artists, including renowned landscape photographer and close friend Koos van der Lende.

ACCOMMODATION

Thandekayo offers five rooms; two premier doubles, two standard doubles and one cosy twin bed - loft room. The guesthouse is perched on the top end of the property presenting majestic panoramic views from every room.

The double rooms have queen size beds with large en-suite bathrooms (bath and shower). All the the rooms also have easy access to a private (heated) pool and recreational area and there is a communal lounge with a large balcony and a separate dining room and tourist information lobby.

BREAKFAST AND DINING

Wake up to a Continental buffet and full English breakfast. Fruit juice, cereal, freshly baked muffins, fresh fruit, tea or coffee and preserves are served as an appetizer. Then eggs, bacon, mushrooms, and tomato can be ordered to choice.

Fantastic restaurants are located close to the guesthouse. Dine at famous Mariners Wharf who specialise in seafood or visit the ever popular Katima and Pure restaurants for a fine dining experience. If it is local you are after Hout bay can satisfy your taste buds by visiting one of the many pub and grills or simply get back to basics and treat yourself to fresh fish and chips down at the harbour.

FACILITIES

View the fine art photography on exhibition throughout the guesthouse or lounge next to the heated pool. On a hot summers evening sit back and enjoy sundowners from the balcony while taking in the panoramic views of the mountains and bay.

ATTRACTIONS and ACTIVITIES

We are centrally situated to enjoy the breathtaking Cape Peninsula. A twenty minute drive will take you to the cable car on Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Constantia Wine Estates and many golf courses in the area. Cape Point is a mere thirty five minute drive from Hout Bay and the V&A Waterfront is only twenty five minutes away.

The famous Chapmans Peak drive is on our doorstep. This is one of the most spectacular coastal roads in the world and is a “must see” when visiting Hout Bay. For those who don’t want to venture too far Hout Bay has much to offer:
